Kandan Baban, DO is a board certified Osteopathic Physician specializing in Cardiology. As a Cardiologist, she specializes in cardiovascular disease prevention, valvular heart disease, and congestive heart failure management. She has a special interest in women’s heart disease prevention and management as well as non-invasive cardiology (stress testing, ECHO, TEE), and non-interventional procedures.

Dr. Baban is an accomplished physician with multiple board certifications, several scientific awards from the American College of Physicians, and an extensive research background with multiple publications and speaking engagements.

Dr. Baban has broad medical knowledge through her prior experiences as a hospitalist and as an intensive care doctor at multiple Scripps institutions. Dr. Baban has a unique approach to empowering and assisting patients to better care for themselves. She emphasizes prevention and promotes cardiovascular risk reduction through healthy lifestyle changes. She treats each patient with compassion and she believes in personalized medicine, which allows for a more accurate diagnosis and specific treatment plan.

Dr. Baban received her B.S. degree in Microbiology from the University of California San Diego in 2002. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007, and was awarded the Harbarger Award for Academic Excellence. She completed her residency program in Internal Medicine at Scripps Clinic and Green Hospital in 2010, and her fellowship in Cardiology also from Scripps Clinic and Green Hospital in 2015.

Dr. Baban is certified by the American Board of Cardiology, the National Board of Echocardiography, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and the American Board of Internal Medicine. She also has a diverse cultural background and speaks Kurdish and Arabic, fluently.
