Dr. Andersen loves to exercise in his free time- running, weightlifting, hot yoga, dancing in the kitchen (while cooking). To accompany trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, he also enjoys reading by the pool and working on projects that inspire him.
Dr. Andersen enjoys Partnering with patients to maintain their good health, allowing them to continue to do the things that bring joy and purpose to their lives, recognizing everyone is a person first and a patient second. His philosophy is that “No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”
Dr. Andersen is from the rural farming community of Bryant, South Dakota. He was raised by his single mother, a wonderful nurse who worked at the local small-town nursing home. Visiting her at work growing up and later working as CNA alongside her, he saw how her love and support extended beyond his siblings and he, to every single resident of that nursing home. It was through her perpetual caring and kindness that he was inspired to become a physician who still attempts to emulate that same unwavering love and compassion she shared with everyone around her. That combined with outstanding medical training provided by the exceptional teachers and mentors at Mayo Clinic have given “a great sense of purpose and passion to (his) current career as a physician”.
