In 2007, Cathleen Shaffer left a career in accounting to start transitioning to the healthcare field by completing a medical assistant program. Her first job as a medical assistant was in a pediatric office and then with a neurosurgeon until she started nursing school.

After graduating nursing school, she worked in a community clinic and enjoyed helping people from all walks of life. After several years as a registered nurse, she realized she wanted to help patients more, and obtained she master’s degree to start practicing as a provider.

As a registered nurse, Ms. Shaffer was able to see a patient come in with a complaint and some symptoms, but seldom knew what the outcome was for diagnosis and treatment. That was not enough for her inquisitive mind. She knew the only way for her to understand the whole process is to be a provider and be with the patient from start to finish. She further appreciates using evidence-based information to ensure she's at the top of my game for the benefit of patients.
