Biography

After receiving his undergraduate degree from MIT, Dr. Frank Bender attended UC San Diego Medical School, graduating in its third class. Following this, he completed a medical internship/residency training program at Boston City Hospital, affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed a Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship at UCSD.

In private practice in Escondido and Poway since 1981, Dr. Bender is on the staffs of Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital. He specializes in Pulmonary and Critical Care. He is the Medical Director of Respiratory Services for Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital and chairs the joint Pulmonary Committee. He is a Fellow of the College of Chest Physicians. Current Board Certifications: Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care. 

Dr. Bender lives in Escondido with his wife, Marcia, and has two children. His interests include baseball, history, the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, and the beach.
