Biography

Dr. Phull's expertise in providing outstanding and comprehensive cancer care began with his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona (UA), where he laid his foundations in cancer biology. He culminated his undergraduate career with a challenging research fellowship abroad in Europe, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the BRAVO! program. His post-baccalaureate experiences led him to enroll in a unique and prestigious Physician-Scientist program at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine (CCLCM) where he continued to pursue his interests while realizing his passion for Internal Medicine.

Subsequently, Dr. Phull was selected into a unique combined Internal Medicine/Physician Scientist training program at Scripps Green Hospital (SGH) and The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) as a KL-2 funded Clinical Scholar, where he also obtained a Master Degree in Clinical Investigation. He completed his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), where he reignited his greater passion and purpose for patient care and education, and was selected as the Chief Fellow.

Currently, Dr. Phull is a hematologist/oncologist at Palomar Health Medical Foundation, where he is the director of the medical oncology and infusion program. He has expertise in a variety of hematologic disorders and oncologic malignancies, and remains highly involved in education, mentorship, and leadership in the community. He enjoys being a lifelong learner and continues to contribute to medical knowledge as demonstrated by over 50 expert editorial reviews for The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Reading Room, 15 peer-reviewed papers in medical journals along with 26 scientific abstracts, over 20 oral presentations at national meetings, and multiple awards including winning first place at 3 national scientific poster competitions.

Dr. Phull views his ongoing journey in the medical field as a series of meaningful experiences that enable him to appreciate different values, cultures, and viewpoints while establishing a track record of excellence across multiple institutions. This has allowed him to fulfill his initial calling to be a compassionate and caring clinician, advocating for the deeply-rooted principles of empathy, humility, empowerment, and dignity towards all of his patients. In his free time, he enjoys aviation and piloting planes, sports, movies, travel, and spending time with his family.
