Joe Garvin is a Nurse Practitioner and works at the Internal Medicine office at Arch Health Medical Group in Escondido. He holds a national certification from ANCC in Primary Care of Adult and Geriatric patients.

Having received his undergraduate degree at Valparaiso University, Garvin earned a master’s degree at California State University Long Beach while working as a registered nurse in mental health and special-needs care. In 2010, Joe began his internship work and core clinical training. He worked serving community clinics in the San Diego area including North County Health Services and Family Health Centers of San Diego. He completed this tenure in 2016, joining the primary care clinic at Arch Health Medical Group in Escondido.

Joe says he became a NP because he “feels a deep sense of responsibility to contribute to our community.” When asked what his philosophy in medicine is he replied, “I strive to give patients the tools and know-how to take excellent care of themselves, no matter the circumstances.”

He chose primary care because he feels that managing problems while they are small can keep patients out of the hospital, and that prevention is the best medicine.

Joe is a native of Escondido. He enjoys hiking, swimming, fishing and cooking. He is proficient in medical Spanish, and comes from a family of healthcare professionals including his mother, father, and younger brother, who all work in healthcare.
